Planning guidance, not transaction approval
Trade, customs and carrier requirements vary by commodity, route and date. Check current official requirements and obtain transaction-specific confirmation before dispatching goods.
Door-to-door freight combines several stages into one coordinated movement rather than treating the international leg in isolation.
Collection
Cargo is collected from the agreed shipper location and moved to the relevant depot, terminal, port or airport.
Main international transport
The principal movement can be by air, sea or road depending on the route and service selected.
Customs hand-offs
Where declarations are required, appropriately authorised customs providers use the commercial and commodity information supplied for the shipment.
Final delivery
After customs and terminal processes are complete, the cargo is handed to the relevant delivery provider for the agreed final leg.
Clarify what “door-to-door” includes
Duties, taxes, storage, customs examinations, waiting time and other exceptional third-party charges are not automatically included simply because a rate is described as door-to-door.
